Amarnath Yatra pilgrims have been attacked by local Muslims in J&K.
More anguishing is the fact there has been a near-total blackout of news about this development by almost all leading media outlets, even as endless space is being devoted to the baseless allegations of Arvind Kejriwal, about the BJP out to buy some of the AAP legislators in what he alleges is a bid to form a government in Delhi.
According to reports, there have been incidents of violence against the langarwalas and pilgrims at Baltal, by local Muslim miscreants, which include pony operators. Amarnath Yatris were attacked at Kangan and Baltal by the violent Muslim mob, in which has dozens of yatris of seriously injured. Some CRPF personnel have also been injured.
Reports received say that the attackers burnt down three langars, broke and looted the provisions including on whatever they could lay their hands on, of the remaining langars at Baltal. Reports also say that these incidents of violence have spread up to Sonamarg. There is all likelihood of it spreading to other the other areas of valley if the state government doesn’t take appropriate steps.
It is no secret that J&K state governments, over the years, have been trying everything to scuttle the Amarnath Yatra using various pretexts. The latest attacks have created a fear psychosis among both yatris and Langarwalas. The anti-Hindu state administration leaves no stone unturned to either obstruct the Amarnath Yatra by fomenting trouble every year with the sole aim of discouraging the yatris, or to get the pilgrimage scuttled altogether. Hindu leaders from Jammu & Kashmir have repeatedly alleged in the past that the state’s various regimes are bent on ending the Amarnath Yatra, an ancient historic and religious legacy of all Hindus, by encouraging separatist and even terrorist elements.
The state VHP has warned the state government and take action to immediately control the situation and arrest the perpetrators of this attack, as well as pay full compensation for the losses incurred due to the damage of the langars. It has also demanded that the state government must ensure that full safety of the yatris. The VHP intends to send a delegation to Baltal and other affected areas involved. After assessing the situation, the VHP may call for a Jammu Bandh and even a Bharat Bandh later.
Advocate Chander Mohan Sharma, National Co-Convener of Jammu and Kashmir Cell of BJP demanded that the state government provide adequate security to the Amarnath Yatris immediately.
This incident should serve as eye-opener for the government who is claiming of providing foolproof security for the yatris. He alleged that the latest attack on Hindu pilgrims has been provoked by the anti-national utterances of Kashmiri separatist Ali Shah Geelani and also due to slackness on the part of administration. He warned the state government that such incidents in future will not be tolerated.
